Well, I took a friend of mine steelheading today he has never caught a steelhead so we went to Reiter from 7-8 it was really slow and I could tell he was getting bored. I promised I'd put him on a fish so he headed to the Wallace. I let him take the first cast in a fishy steelhead spot. Halfway threw his float, a steelie jumped over his bobber haha. He kept fishing that hole for another 10 cast with no bite so we moved down a bit. Soon enough he got a bobber down and it was a coho. This was his first salmon float fishing ever. After that we were getting take downs every cast but all coho. After about the 6th coho the bite stopped. So we were gonna head up to another hole. We walked by that first spot and I told my friend to try that spot again he told me to go for it because his arm was tired from the cohos lol. Just as my float hit the water after 2 seconds the bobber drops I set the hook and saw a flash and handed the rod to my friend. After a good fight he brings it in for me to tail her and he got his first steelhead on the punchcard. Fished for another hour covering lots of water with no more bites so we called it a day. My friend is now hooked and can't wait to get out again.
