First time fishing the Quilayute in the late morning for the rising tide. Followed River Park Road until I hit the water, there were a few other folks there plunking when we go there so figured we were at the right place. Wife was setup in a bobber drift with shrimp and I was casting a Blue Fox Vibrax. I hit a small fry so the wife soon switched to a kastmaster. Hooked a young wild steelhead and released her. Only spent an hour fishing so we didn't catch anything else.
River was low, there was some rain on Friday so I hoped that would bring in some fish. I think my guess was pretty spot on because a drift boat and 3 others casting flys showed up as we were packing it up.
Will definitely be back.
