Hit the soccer fields at 5am. Was surprised at how many people were already there. Fishing was much better on the lower river than it has been higher up. People were constantly bringing in fish. Mostly pinks. Some young kid, maybe 13 or 14, brought in a King...probably 10 lbs or so. Also saw a big silver get foul hooked...if I wouldn't have said something to the guy, I think he would have kept it. Saw another BIG...and I mean BIG silver landed, hooked in the gill plate, literally inside the gill plate. The guy kept it...not sure of the official ruling on that, but he said it was legal and kept it.

I limited out by 8:30am...all pinks. 2 bucks and 2 hens. Lost 2 or 3 in the process so I probably went 4/7 in 3.5 hours. We were there until 11:30 am. I was waiting for my buddy to limit out, but he never did. He went home with 2 pinks.

Saw lots of pinks caught, and the king and 2 silvers.

The early morning crowd was cool. Everybody working with one another. The later the morning got, the more jackwagons that seemed to show up. My buddy was talking to the guy next to him about the big silver that was foul hooked and the guy said "if I get it to the shore, I'm keeping it"...never ceases to amaze me that a person would risk the legal ramifications for a fish.

And...PACK OUT YOUR TRASH PEOPLE!!! The bank was a mess! I had limited out and was waiting for my buddy, so I walked the bank putting trash in my 5 gallon bucket and had the thing completely full! Chip bags, drink bottles, empty tackle packages, cigarette packs, etc. Not cool!

Gill plate= legal the regs state anything behind gill plate is not, I had an awesome fish on in the sound and it was hooked maybe 1/4" behind the gill plate, let it go, as you said not worth the legal ramifications. As a side note, every bit of line cut should be hauled out too, many don' t get that, kills the birds, good for you being a Puyallup Steward....
