After a weekend of waiting I anxiously hit the river for my morning constitutional. Got there on the outgoing tide with the water quite a ways out. Lots of people fishing, but didn't see a whole lot of action going on. The guy across from me (bait) hooked what looked like a Pink shortly after I arrived. Saw a guy down below who was constantly hooking up, but couldn't seem to get anything to the bank (finally landed one of the many he hooked). Most everyone else seemed to be having very little luck. There were some fish jumping here and there. I fished for 40 minutes and worked solely with my Coho jigs. Started with pink/purple without much action. Switched to black/blue/chartreuse and had a few bumps. Finally switched to yo olde Chartrugly and after a couple more bumps had a solid takedown. Good fighter that pulled a little line off the reel on a couple short runs. Finally got it close to the surface, saw a flash and it bid me farewell. Would like to believe it was a Coho, but no way to be sure. Certainly had spirit whatever it was. Only had a few more minutes without any more interest. Maybe next time.
