Had gone down to the area of Carbon River behind my housing development with my son about 9:30 a.m. The bank/beach we normally fish was shoulder-to-shoulder with the early risers. Walked downstream about 100 yards and fished from some rocks along the bank. Wasn't having much luck although we could see fish all along the opposite bank. A man and his young son about 40 feet from us were pulling in fish every few minutes albeit several had to be let go because they were snagged in the tail. I asked him what colors he was using since the pink corky and yarn was not doing us any good. He said he had an orange corky and red yarn. I switched to that and had a keeper on my next cast. That was followed by another keeper about 10 minutes later. I had another about 10 minutes after that but the line snapped as I got it close to shore. This was exceptional fishing for me that day because, after seven years of fishing the Carbon, I finally landed a salmon.

It truly is nice when the ones catching will tell what color!
