So the weather person sure messed up because I thought today was going to be a nasty one so didn't bother hooking up the Tin cup but planned on hitting the river again in my rain gear and trying for another coho or 2; because when I got up at 5:30am it sure looked nice out but it was too late for the boat so headed to the river to secure a spot. I am sure those boaters on the Duwamish were tearing it up!

Got there just as it was getting light and boy did that rain bring in a lot of silvers! Lots and lots of jumpers and big bright ones as well so started casting some eggs because one of our felllow Lake WA 'ers Leonard told me they were hitting on eggs upstream and his friend already had two bright hens.

Tide was pretty high still so switched over to DN and right away got a nice take and it ran all over the place but turned out to be a big humped pinkie male so released it after a little revival and 3 casts later got another one! This was fun but really wanted to get some silvers so moved back to the orange corkie and yarn with some nice eggs and put on a little crayfish oil.

Just when things looked like they were going to get good, 3 HUGE sea lions showed up and started wreaking havoc and chasing silvers all over the place. I have fished this river for years and it's the first time I have seen that happen; I have seen a seal or 2 but not Hercshel's cohorts from the sea that far up river. I guess they got their full after some splashing and showing off some of their catches because they finally headed back to the salt with the tide starting to run out at a pretty good clip.

Now it got interesting because about a half hour after those boys left, everyone started getting hook ups! I had 2 on that came up buttoned but the guy next to me hooked and landed 2 big silvers back to back that had to be over 10lb's! Now it was my turn as I had a nice little tap tap and then strong tug and it was fish on! AFter some nice runs and trying to get into the pilings he gave up and was in the net! Almost identical to my one yesterday but this one showed 8lbs on the scale and seemed a little brighter. Had 2 more pinks after that and then quite a few people showed up and it was getting crowded so called it a day and will be back in the AM

Nice catch!!!! Good to see some silvers . I was going to take my girlfriend fishing today but after the rain last night and looking at the weather report I decided I didn't want to put her through a stormy day on then river . Wouldn't you know it ended up being a nice day.

Are the rules different on the Duwamish than the Green? I could have swore you can't use bait?

@mizm05: You can use bait on the Green/Duwamish. Each section of the river has different bait closures and openers. As of right now, you can fish bait up to I-405. The next section from I-405 to S. 277th Bridge opens Oct.1, and from S 277th Bridge to Black Diamond Rd. Bridge opens Oct. 16.
