Well, after striking out on the Puyallup on Saturday, my buddy and I decided to try the Green. Closer to home, and the lower Puyallup was closed anyways.

This was my first time fishing the Green, except for a couple casts last week, but this was my first day of really fishing it. Was down in Auburn. Once I figured out where they hold and their running path, it was steady action all day. Not a fish every cast, but I would be into a fish every 10-15 minutes. A bunch popped off. And I released some fouls, and some buck pinks.

The pinks are already pretty dark in here..saw some that were just black already. I ended up keeping my limit of 6 pink hens. The meat is already too far gone, but I've got 12 new skeins of eggs to be cured!

And I swear one of the pink hens had a pretty big tumor on her liver. Looked like a jaw breaker attached to her liver, but it was under the tissue, stretching the wall of the liver so you could see it. White ball shaped growth with little blue/black dots all over it. Was very strange...and kinda nasty. But she had big fat skeins on her! Score!

I am not sure who read the regs for you or where you read them? But you can not keep 6 pinks. pinks are all considered adults. Love people that just go fishing and think they know the rules and then brag when they break the law. 2 additional pink to your 2 adults means 4 adult fish with 2 of them being pinks. or all 4 being pinks. 2 of your 6 fish limit have to be juvenile fish no matter what. Please learn to read the regulations before you go fishing

@TrophyHunter - You might want to go back and re-read those regs. They specifically state only limit of 6 with only three of those being adult Coho and Chum, therefore 6 pinks is legal as far as I understand it.

probably the reason I choose not to fish the puyallup or the green or anything. (Most of the people dont even get a reg book with their license because they dont care. It makes little to no sense why you can keep 6 pinks there. I have watched other people on other rivers be escorted out (this year) with 6 pinks because they misunderstood the regulations. I guess I wont comment on rivers anymore that i wouldnt even waste my time fishing on. Have fun.

@TrophyHunter...I know how to read the regs. Here's how it's printed directly from the book..."Daily limit 6 of which only 3 may be adult COHO and CHUM (combined). Release CHINOOK."

So that means you can keep 6 adult fish per day. 3 of your 6 adults can be coho or chum or a combo of both (2 coho 1 chum, or any other combo you can come up with).

So if you don't get any coho or chum, you can still keep 6 adult fish per day...so yes bro, you can keep 6 pinks if you didn't land any coho or chum.

On TrophyHunter's behalf, the regs are confusing. Each river system differs. and it's hard to keep them straight. On the Puyallup he'd be right about the regulations as they don't specifically state adult Coho and Chum for that system, just adult salmon of which any Pink over 12" applies, so four Pinks over 12" would be the limit even though the regs indicate that the daily limit is 6. And the Snohomish is different from both the Green and the Puke. It makes it difficult for those of us who actually try to follow the rules. There is no shortage of beef about how confusing the regs can be.

@LP231, I was in Auburn in the general area of the 304th st exit off Hwy 18.

@NFCustom, I don't eat them, so I clean them really well, wrap them tightly in cling wrap and freeze them. Then I give them to local families that are falling on hard times. They don't care what it is...they just appreciate a free meal for their family.

Also if you go the WDFW fishing reports you'll see that you get a bonus of 2 pink salmon this year from the Seattle area so you can retain 6 pinks in all
