Got a pass from the wife for a day on the water. Decided to have breakfast with the family before heading out. Got to the 1st Ave S launch at 10am.
1st the show..
Pull up to the launch and there is a 22' Alumaweld beached high and dry on the rocks on the side of the launch with a few guys working on the motor and their truck/trailer parked head in, diagonally across the launch leaving about 10' between the back of the trailer and the fence for people to launch/load. I was one of three boats ready to launch whileothers were waiting to get out.
I walked over and asked the crew "How long you going to be parked there?" The guy started yelling at me "Cant you get around?!!" I fired back the number of boats waiting to get in and out and walked away. He sent a kid to move his rig (who shot "I'm gonna kick your a** looks the whole time I was there).
While I was waiting for my turn at the ramp (and my buddy to show up cause I was not leaving my boat alone with the people I just pissed off to go park my rig) I was watching the guys work on the boat. All of a sudden there is bunch of florescent green fluid (anitfreeze I am guessing) pouring into the river and nobody over there has any interest in stopping or catching it so I called 911 and reported it. I got off the phone with them and talked to another guy that went over to see what was going on, the story was the guy launched at 1st light, had engine problems, beached his boat to go get parts and the tide went out and left him high and dry.
About that time my buddy shows so we launch, I didn't get to see it but while I was parking my rig, these guys talked another sled on the water to rope up to the beached one and try to pull it back into the water - now this sled is a good 3-4' above the waterline completely high & dry, on rocks - not a chance this is going to work and it didn't.
Now the fishing (notice this section is MUCH shorter)..
As we waitied people were saying the 1st light bite was awesome, limits all around. Apparently that bite ended about the time we hit the water. We trolled wiggle warts, casted dick nites, threw everything we had at them until 6pm. My buddy kzoo got one on a wiggle warts and that was the only fish of the day. We did not see anyone else doing any better. At least it was a beautifull day!
