Went and fished the Skagit looking for some Coho. Being a lazy fisherman, I always head to the same spot whether the fishing will be good there or not because I can walk to it. That being said, I went out to the island off my property Sunday morning, once again, looking for Coho. My previous forays to the island had only netted me some old Humpys but I was still willing to give it a go.
As usual, hundreds of old Humpys running up a seam about 10 feet off the shore, had a few hookups, tossed em back. Started chucking a spoon out a little further in the river and knew I got hit with something larger and feistier. Sure enough, a big Coho buck launches itself out of the water and dives, starts peeling off line and the fight was on. Five minutes later, a nice 8 pound hatchery buck landed. My first ever!!!!!! Happy me didn't get another bite, but satisfied, I went home with my prize to a very happy wife.

Personally I would have had to rate a day like yours much higher. Any day that ends with coho AND a happy wife is a great day indeed. Congrats on your first and may there be many to come.
