spent the morning on the snohomish near the pilchuck watching boats catch a good deal of fish. thats been how my luck has mostly been this fall. in the afternoon i moved over to the skykomish just across from what i believe is the "prison hole" area. the upper part of the the gravel bar gave up nothing so i started to head out. then i decided to try my luck from the bank by the parking lot. immediately started hooking pinks on a simple chartreuse/green string with orange corky. lots of soft bites/takes by the bucks. landed 4-5 fish and hauled in another 4-5 snagged fish in about an hour. after i gutted and filleted the 3 i decided to keep i decided to replace the gear i lost on a fish that wrapped itself around a log. why not try to limit out i said to the guy i was chatting with. one cast, one fish. he was a fiesty one and it took me a while to land him. ended up being the biggest of my keepers. would have loved my last fish to have been a silver but i'll take what i got and call it a very fun afternoon hauling in almost a dozen fish.

I bet these fish will leave an earthy taste to your palate. Can you verify if these fish had been spawned out yet?

Hey it's great that you got out there and had fun catching some fish. But the only thing those fish are good for now is fertilizer in the garden for next years crop. You experienced the thrill of the catch, just release those ole dogs and let them die in peace.

fishee, the males still had sperm in them but unfortunately the hen was spawned out. that was the sad part because that was the smallest and oldest fish i kept. dawg they should ok for smoking. i even breaded and pan fried one i caught last week. not the greatest but its better than nothing. yeah it was nice to have some fish to play with. its been 25 years since i really did a lot of fishing. i have definitely caught the bug again!!

Gross. They won't be good to smoke! Good fish makes good smoked fish.i here people say "it will smoke up good" as they're headed for the car with some nasty old spawners. If you want Killer smoked fish use your best fattiest cromers. High oil content is what you want, not old pale meated nasty Salmon.

Let the man keep what he catches if it pleases him, of course the fish are way past there prime, but he has the bug, chromers will come.

I personally only get involved with males if they have lots of sperms. Those fish look great, I can't think of anything more suitable to leave on your doorstep for Halloween. I bet you don't get a single knock.

Well, welcome back to the scene after a 25 year absence. You had a fun day and if the quality of the fish is marginal then lesson learned for next time. It's not like there was a shortage of humpies in the Sky.

thanks to those of you who had positive things to say. seems to be a lot of snobs/negative nancys on here downplaying someone having fun catching some fish. the fishing has been fun although i've only landed one nice coho. its been an experience so far finding holes and learning the area. i welcome all hints and suggestions and look forward to more fishing. anyone needs a copilot armed with beer for their boat let me know! happy fishin everyone!!
