Met up with DJ Larouche of West Coast Custom Tackle. We started bright and early, 7:15am. Pounded a couple different spots with a variety of soft baits, crank baits, jigs, etc with nary a bite. At 10:30 DJ moved us over to a shallower area of the lake in search of largemouth since the smallies weren't cooporating. We found some bassy looking shoreline and structure and began catching fish. Settle on a non-weighted thick 4" purplish worm. The bass really liked that set up! Big fish was a 4.4 lb smallie caught by DJ. I managed a couple small bass (one was a rock bass). High point for me was missing a bass on a rapalla type bait and letting the fish rest. I cast back to it's location 10 minutes later and it was fish on. Pretty cool. We fished until 2pm, although the bite died off around 1pm. A nice day on the water. Thanks DJ!
