started near the hatchery looking for cuthroat and maybe some whitefish. what I found on the river in between there and my property were a couple thousand dark silvers and several hundred dark & moldy kings. using 6lb test and size 00 and 0 mapps aglias 5 cuthroat between 13 and 18 inches were caught and released, the biggest had a few leach like things crawling out its gills. no whitefish today, usually find a few of them. 9 coho between 8 and about 15lbs thought the tiny mepps would be tasty and were quickly released, about half were clipped fish. no kings hit but rarely hook them on small spinners. just above an island upstream of the property a school of perhaps 20 very chrome silvers passed by heading very fast upstream.
found heavy line and large hooks around all the places near the hatchery and blakely campground that are easy to get to the river at. I come across people almost every year trying to snag up there.
saw several people on the lower river targeting salmon, not legal in my stretch, but didn't see any on the bank. nobody was fishing after 3pm when I was heading home.
