My friend and I decided to see if we could pick up some late Coho or maybe some early Chum on the Duamish. Started at O'dark-thirty down low on the incoming tide. Tried drifting/floating eggs as well as a few swipes with a twitching jigs. No takers. Saw one surface in the hour+ we were in that spot. The tide came in and killed the current, so packed up and headed upriver. Explored a couple holes as we headed toward Kent. Tried twitching a jig along the way, but things seemed pretty dead in the places we stopped, so didn't spend too much time in those spots. After checking out/trying a few holes and seeing a few fish surface we ended up in Kent to finish out our trip. So far we'd not had a confirmed hit. We continued to try various methods between float/bait, drift/bait, jigs and spinners. My friend picked up a nice little rainbow and a small jack Silver. Finally I decided to go for the Chum special and tied on a jig under a float on which I pegged some prawn. Took a bit, but eventually had a take down and it stuck. Turned out to be a darkish Coho hen that looked ready to pop. It'd been so long since I landed a fish that I thought it would be worth taking home and I'd get some skeins to boot. Unfortunately the boot is all I got. The eggs were already loose and the meat was fairly pale, but I'll give it a go in the smoker to see how it turns out. Just excited to get a fish again. That was all for the morning, but always fun fishing/exploring with friend.
