Hit the Hump on Saturday with a couple buddies. River is extremely low and slow...they need rain badly!!! Started off by the hatchery from 6:45am to Noon. Extremely slow. Saw people landing chum, but you can't keep those anyways. I landed a good size fire truck Ho...but let it go. Too colored. Nailed the Coho drifting eggs. He gulped them down pretty good. Had to get my hook back with pliers.
After lunch we moved a few miles down river. We found a hole with fish and fished that hole from 1pm to 6pm. Was still slow, but there were fish there. I ended up landing 2 monster chum. Had to be 15 lbs or better, each one of them. Damn did they put up one heck a fight!!!!! Thought I had a monster King until I got them close enough to see what they were. Nailed the first one running a #4 Blue Fox (purple body with silver blade) past wood piles. Nailed the second twitching a purple/pink jig past wood piles.
My buddy ended up landing a decent King. Somewhere around 13-15 lbs (smaller than my chum), but it was pretty bronzed. Bummer.
Once they get a decent rain I'll consider going back. It's very slow out there right now.
