Went out this morning, thinking I would give it one more shot at getting a silver that didn't look like a boot or a fire truck. Went to my usual spot, and it was dead, nothing but high water from the high tide. Decided to pack up, and move upstream to a place that I had not visited since this time last year. Got there nobody in sight, so I set up shop and started pitching the kitchen sink. After about 45-mins of nothing, switched back to bait with a piece of yarn, and got a take down. The fish moved up stream in the deep water, t showing it self, and I thought that It must be Mr Chumley on the other end. Tighten down the drag thinking this would be fun just to play the chum for awhile. The fish finally came to the surface, and from what I could see it looked like it was something pretty chrome. Seconds later all hell broke loose as the fish had enough of just setting in the deep hole. It then went airborne and running across the river, tail dancing all the way. Buy this time I could see the fish was decent and not a fire truck. I thought I should quit messing around and get this silver on the bank. As I played the fish back towards the bank, it came to the surface, and I could see this was no silver, but a steelhead.!! Now I really got down to business and got this over to the bank after another run back across the river. Once on the bank I tackled it, and found the hook to be barley hanging in the inside of her mouth. Very lucky not to loose it. All in All a good day, as I was just hoping to catch a silver or maybe chum. I was down to my last few pieces of bait. The fish gods gave me another bag of bait.
