I hired Nate Treat to guide me to fishing holes and teach me some skills to catch more fish.
Due to the rain and high water, we abandoned our original plan to go to the Snohomish. Instead we hit the Sky. Well before first light we began our fishing adventure. I had my Cabela’s chest waders and boots, so I was ready to conquer all challenges with ease. We fished under a bridge, powered through mud, high water and brush. Nate helped me fine tune my skills of floating eggs and the associated rigging. Our last stop was the Wallace hatchery. Appropriately stated by an observer: “That seems like cheating.” Hey, let’s all hang out at the entrance to the fish ladder and entice them to bite our offering. I can’t believe they allow this, but who am I to suggest otherwise. We had several bites of our egg presentation, but were not able to land any - this time. I had a banana with my lunch, and Nate pointed out the well known fact that if you bring a banana, no one gets fish. I won’t make that mistake again! It was mostly a day of learning for me. I know it will pay off right away. We scored on some nice Coho eggs from a dude we were fishing with. See the pic.
Thanks Nate for sharing your knowledge and skill with me and leading me on a great adventure!
Have fun! Larry

haha that was me that said it was cheating. however, i did some cheating myself. just to say i had fished there. 3 guys got fish on but did poor jobs of setting their hooks. only thing they set the hook good in was an overhead branch. i was hoping to show em how it was done but no luck for me either. had i known that was you nate i would have introduced myself.
