This is almost my favorite time of the year! The chum are here! They fight hard, bight willingly and you'll catch just as many chum as you would pinks. Exc ept for add 5 to 10 pounds to each fish. These toothy critters are mean, angry and willing to play.
Yesterday we ran our first chum trip down on the Green and man was it a blast! Talk about near non-stop action, we could have caught fish all day except for we had to stop to catch our breath and rest our arms! These fish are still bright, and really want to come to shore for a picture. The hens make the perfect catch for stocking up on eggs for winter steelhead, and we're pulling out silvers too!
We fished a variety of methods, and all I can say about technique is floats, pink and shrimp. Find the fish, float it through and you're going to have a blast.
If you'd like to run the river in my drift boat, I've got the propane tank filled, the boot warmers stocked and the coffee brewing. If you'd like to get the 411 on techniques and locations on the bank, I can give you the inside scoop and expert advice you need to make your season a success.
I really look forward to big fish days with these guys every year. And while we're at it, we'll have a good shot at winter steel. I'm on the Green and Snohomish for chum and coho right now, and would love to fish with you. I also have a few back set aside for fishing on the coast if you'd like to get out of town. Either way, give me a shout and we'll put you on some fish.
