What a great day fishing! Went out with my brother and a new friend from the WA Lakes site. The Green River is Chum Heaven right now. Drifting a black corky with a short piece of bright pink yarn was the ticket for us today. My brother had a 20+ fish day!!! He was on fire and had the time of his life. Caught and released some big bucks (15-20 lbs). Saw a monster Coho caught. A guy 50 ft up river from us caught a slightly blushed 20+ lbs Coho Buck. Biggest Coho I have ever seen! The best thing about catching Chum is they fight like crazy and are totally unpredictable. Some went aerial, others hunkered down, and I had two hit my line and take off down river like freight trains and break me off when I tried to slow them down! Kept a couple nice hens to stock up on eggs for Winter Steelhead.

Sounds like an awesome day! Which part of the Green are you fishing?

cstoone - Really was a great day. Lot's of fish in the system now. There are probably a hundred good spots between Renton and Auburn. Choose a beautiful spot on the river and give it a shot. Tight lines...

Might wanna double check those weights. Might be over estimating a bit. But still, good job!

mizmo05 - It's possible I'm over estimating a bit (What fisherman doesn't? LOL!). Didn't mean to make it sound like they were all huge. The average size for the hens we caught yesterday were around 6-8 lbs; but there were some huge bucks that were definitely 15+ lbs. And that Coho was absolutely the biggest Coho I've ever seen! When it jumped the first time I thought it was a big Chum. I was totally surprised when it turned out to be a beautiful Coho. That was one lucky fisherman!!!

hey tele_maniac, thx for the report! was planning to go out this weekend and you've got me even more pumped now! how was the river running? when i was there last fri it was too high and fast - over 2,000 CFS. looks like it's gone down. will be great if the rain stays consistently mild and keeps the river level.

kyamukun - The Green has come up with the rain, but it is in really good shape now. The color is good and the extra water flow helps to get a good drift for bottom bouncing and floating jigs or eggs.

Hey maniac, great report! I fished this morning in Auburn around 15th st/Harvey road area, Saw some schools running through with some big fish rollin. I was floating jigs and couldn't get a taker. I'll try the black corky and pink yarn tomorrow i guess, Chum are good eatin fish btw, not just egg donors.

Nelly1 - Good luck out there. Yesterday the black and pink combo was the clear winner for us, but other things worked too. I caught my first fish with a pink corky and pink yarn. A lady near me was catching fish with a purple corky and green yarn. Most the other people were being successful floating pink or orange jigs.

PS I'm an equal opportunity carnivore. I don't think there is such thing as a bad salmon as long as they are fresh.

Great job out there, tele-maniac! Hoping to hit it this weekend.
Don't be afraid to throw some hardware at them. I've had good luck with a purple UV Brads wiggler and #5 Blue fox in blue, purple and chartreuse. Keep at 'em!
