Well decided to try my luck with these elusive stellheads on the Nooksack today. Got there around 1250 and noticed that half the river was frozen over. Tossed out a yarn ball on a float for about 20 minutes until I could not feel my fingers any longer. Ice was binding up my line, closing my eyelets. The only fish I saw today was this Fire truck under the ice trying to die. Headed out the the Skagit tomorrow and see what we can do there. Tight lines everybody.

Awesome pics! I was thinking about fishing the nooksack this weekend, but the ice looked pretty thick. Hopefully it will clear up for us in the coming week! Still want to land that elusive first nooksack steelhead. What area where you fishing? If you don't mind me asking

Thanks everyone. Pic would have been a whole lot nicer had I been holding some nice winter steelheads. I was on the Skagit the next day like I said I was going to be, the except for a seal about 2 miles upstream from the Fir Island Road Boat launch, there wasnt anything to be had but frost bite....lol...

Tight lines.....
