Starting Time: 7:00 AM
Location: Wallace River
Method of Persuasion: Egg & Pink Worm
Setup: Okuma Celilo 9'6" 4-8lb Rod, Pflueger Trion Reel, Hydrofloat Mainline

Two words: cardiovascular training; I've not walked that many miles of river in a long time. Thank you Wallace River for being the perfect, never ending treadmill.

I began working the middle stretch of the Wallace and managed to land 2 Dolly Varden (one, exuding great corpulence) and a Whitefish. You make me feel so special when my float goes under, Whitefish...

Subsequently I worked my way up the Wallace, and was acrobatically welcomed by a Hatchery Winter Run, Native Summer Run and 2 Coho (one INHALED the pink worm).

All fish were released, and all funds were donated to the never ending gasoline fund.

Overall, the weather was warm, the company was genuine (Mike, Slavik) and the fish were "bitey."

Hey Reel Priorities I notice that you usually use a Okuma Celilo rod but you switch your reels. What one is favorite? And your favorite line?

JSki,

If it were no financial obligation, I would huck both of them into the garbage can and return to my old ways: Shimano Stradic 2500.

Regarding line, my favorite line for float fishing currently is P-Line's Hydrofloat. Surprisingly, the Okuma Celilo in the 4lb - 8 lb version does not "suck" like the heavier versions of this rod. I'm not a fan of Okuma, but I must say that they did a superb job on this rod.

What is your current setup?

Reel Priorities,
Thanks for responding! I am using a Okuma SST-S-962L with a Shimano Sahara 2500FE. I am hoping Santa will bring me a Gloomis 1141S UL and pair with Shimano Stradic 2500 FJ. I am also a Shimano reel guy at the moment. Nice job on your site and Happy Holidays!

Right on comment about the Celio, I have the heavier one, kinda clunky, but ok for float rod-pretty indestructible. Several options out there similar to the pLine,am running power pro blue which is good, but double uni to 15 lb leader then to 8 or 10-12 lb fluoro even for winter runs, got two fish last week in clear water that way

Have you ever fished Raging River?

JSki: That's quite a setup you have going there! I reckon' it does the trick just fine when you're battling winter chrome. I appreciate you sharing that with me. Shimano is indeed and excellent manufacturer, fishing being one of it's many facets.

Bank Drifter: Your line setup sounds about right! Keep up the good work in the low and clear. Thanks for sharing.

KFish16: An interesting question you ask... Feel free to personal message me!
