Another decent day on the water. Although weekend trips are not my favorite kind of trips, we launched late and decided to try clean up duty. Right out the gate we had a first cast fish on a bobber down within 30 seconds. Unfortunately, the fish crackered after a couple minutes. I can't emphasize it enough, hit 'em hard on the hookset! If you don't think you got it stuck the first time, hit 'em again.
We had several fishy take downs throughout the day, didn't stick. The water has dropped and warmed up a bit, it should keep the fish active and holding mid-river for a while.
We picked up a nice dolly on the plugs, and had to end the day early because we were on a deadline. With the water low, watch out for hidden rocks and be ready to scrape bottom on a couple of those wide riffles if you've got a full boat.
There was a LOT of boats, which is usually the name of the game on the weekends. A fair amount of fish hooked, there were more native fish released than hatchery brats caught, but we did alright given the conditions. It's only going to get better from here.
They like the shrimp more this year so far, the winning color has been a pink jig. I've got more weekday dates available, and they're going to be more fun for you, drop me a line and we'll get you some fish!
