I woke up real early to make the 2 hour trip to the lyre only to find it extremely low. Tried two spots for about a half hour and only had a few shankers bump the bobber, so decided to leave and try another creek that is closer to town. Parked and walked upstream. Way up! Miles from where we parked. Caught some trout floating eggs along the way and finally I hook into what we're lookin for, a 12lb hatchery hen. It's only open from december thru january so it's a lucky catch. Spent the rest of the day tossing eggs and spinners on the lower dungeness. Around the game farm but not much going on only one small trout. Rain last night was the sole reason for success today. The olive green stain gave us the luck that we needed. Not going to complain at all. 3 star day
