I finally did it, I caught a Steelhead! This is my first season fishing - ever. Thanks to everyone who put up with me asking them questions as they fished.

I put a piece of pink yarn on my egg loop, found a fishy looking part of the river. I cast out and then suddenly a silvery flash and fish on! I was so scared of losing that fish. I eventually got her to shore and made sure she couldn't flip back to the water. Carried her to a safe place and bonked her.

Then as my heart raced I realized I had actually caught a steelhead, I felt like I did when I had my first born kid!

It was 24 inches

A Steelhead in your fist season?! Sorry, something must be wrong…..I believe the rule is you must wait at least two before you catch your first. :) Congrats!

Nice, I remember catching fish on 2 out of 3 of my first trips to fish for steelhead, I thought " this can't be that hard"- I found out shortly after that it was beginner's luck! But, more time on the water = more fish! great story!
