Very tough fishing on Thursday. Significantly colder than Wednesday and very few fish were caught amongst the crowd. The last three trips for me(and the crowd) have shown diminishing results despite ideal conditions so it would be very easy to assume that the run is coming to an end and not just late. I was lucky enough to hook, land and release a small native around 4 pounds. My float was running well down river and was in a glaring section that was causing me to squint to track it. It was appearing and disappearing in the glare and chop and at one point when I thought I should have seen it reappear I just reared back and hit the fish. More times than not if I try to hit something when I don't see the float actually go down my gear ends up flying back over my head into the nearest bush. Lucky me this time.
