Well, the water is still low, but it has color and is hiding some fish. After the 1st trip out there, I didn't have super high hopes, but we didn't pretty well considering the conditions. It was COLD. Started out the day at 17 degrees. But bundled up and gloved, boot warmers, hand warmers it wasn't that bad.

We covered all the good spot from White Bridge, fished pretty much by ourselves all day. We went 1/1 on steelhead, and we found some cutthroat hanging out that chased down our spinners. It was a fun day, even though we had a late start due to the parade traffic. Holy cow! That was a mess.

Fish number 1 was taken on a nightmare jig, number 2 was hooked and lost on an orange bead.

We found two fish, which is pretty good. The one we landed was a really pretty summer run. It's getting better. There is hope to save the season yet! Drop me a line and we'll get you on some fish!

I am glad to hear of some fish being caught. is the guy in the picture wearing exam gloves under his fingerless gloves? that sounds like a great idea for cold wet conditions.
Forgive my ignorance but how do you tell the difference between summer and winter run? I always thought, obviously naively, that summer run fish came in the summer and winter run came in the winter. But here is a picture of a simmer run fish in February. Is it how bright or colored they are?

Nice summer buck. How big was that fish? Iwilfish all steelhead are chrome when they come into the river. Like you aside summer fish come into the river when warmer and winter come when it's colder. Here is where it gets tricky. Steelhead spawn in the winter at this time. The summer steelhead come into the river early and stay in the rivers till they are ready to spawn. Since the river can't produce the same food as the sea. Summer steelhead will get. Skinny and develop that red rainbow stripe on the side. I think I said that right

I think that's an early winter. Still a pretty thick fish!
