Fished the Reiter highway side this afternoon. Started out with bobber and jig in an orange/pink combination, but didn't get anything with that setup. So I switched to a copper size three Vibrax and started working the same area. Still nothing, so I switched again to a hammered brass #4 Krocodile spoon. Yet again, nothing, so I moved. Found a nice deep pool and began to work the spoon through it, at first with a slow retrieve, and then just letting it drift freely. The free drift was the ticket, as I soon had a feisty summer run just shy of 6lbs nail it while quartering out. Got the fish to shore after a great fight (including it just about jumping into some bushes overhanging the river) and saw that it was bright as could be. The picture doesn't do it justice, but this thing had the most impressive iridescent purple and blue stripes I have ever seen. I'm giving the report a 4 simply because the fish was so nice (super dark meat too), and it was my first Steelhead on a spoon. Another great day on the Sky!
