OK, so lot’s of times people wonder, why post a “1” report? For myself, it’s to keep track of all my fishing trips, but also, it’s to help the members know what’s going on.

What’s going on with the Skagit River and sockeye is that (at least today) it is dead. No signs of sockeye. No one reporting fish caught. No jumpers seen. Not a good start to this year’s Skagit/Baker Lake season. Hopefully things start turning on or you may want to look at other options rather Baker Lake.

I fished with rseas and Nate Treat from 5am to 1pm. We anchored up in various prime travel lanes and ran sandshrimp and spin n glows. No sockeye, but I did get a 19” Dolly so not a total skunk. I would like to thanks rseas for taking me out and showing me some spots and techniques on the Skagit. No fish this time but I feel able to fish the river in my boat should the opportunity come up.

River closes for Sockeye at end of this month, then its on to Baker Lake. Tribal netting is still effecting this fishery.

The Puget Sound sockeye runs this season are either really late or the gill netters have headed them off in the Straight.
