I got there later then I had wanted to. Fished the soccer field area for 3 hours. I started with the standard plunking gear and shrimp. I fished that for a hour or so with no luck. I thought I'd change up gear. I tried Wicked Wiley's (pink) I tried drifting I evens tried a float and jig. Not one bite. Come to think of it there wasn't any real movement in the water. Patients were wearing out when I thought I'd try one of my flies that I made for Baker Lake this year since my bait goes bad the second day. Any ways i toss my fly out there a couple times. I see that it's almost noon I thought I'd throw my line out there 5 or 6 more times then I'm out. 4th cast I get a hit. Pole down I had a fish on my line. I played it for awhile not wanting to lose it. As I got it closer I thought I might have a nice king and was going to have to set it free. My hands were shaking my heart was beating. I get my fish up to the shore to see not one spot on its back. I had caught a 8# or better Sockeye. That's my day I packed it up with a couple minutes till noon and a big smile on my face. I had to work for my fish but in the end it was worth it to see that bright red meat.
Here's the flies I made for Baker Lake and the beautiful red meat. You can't get any better then a fresh Sockeye. We'll I'm out good luck and tight lines
