After getting my honey-do list pared down, I had enough points to make a visit to Joy for a morning of flipping. Got to the water early, around 7a.m. Water was quite warm so I went without the waders. Started out working the west shoreline and had regular action up until around 10a.m. Started back towards the launch and decided to work the other direction with a black plastic worm, weightless. For the next couple of hours, the fishing was the hottest I had ever experienced here, including two largemouth pushing four pounds. I saw the second one emerge from a dock's shadows to swim within six feet of my pontoon to take my worm. At one point, I was hand-lining my plastic worm in an attempt to snag my sunglasses that had fallen into five feet of water. While I was jigging the worm, I observed a largemouth around two pounds emerge from some lilypad shade, then hover next to my bait. While I was hoping it wouldn't hit, it eventually moved in and sucked in the worm. I didn't set the hook however; I had to wait a few seconds before it spit it. In all, I released at least a dozen. The morning got so warm, I ended up taking a dip before heading out!
