Fished the Duamish this morning with a friend. We drifted eggs from 6am to 10am on the outgoing. Between 6am and 9am we hooked two jack Kings not more than 16" long with zero other action besides sculpin. About 9:20 I had a heavy takedown and hooked a good sized fish. It made a short dash upriver and I made sure the hook was set. It then turned and started swiftly downriver. On the way it came to the surface and flashed chrome before going under. That's when my line went slack. Thought it'd snapped my 10# leader, but turned out that it straightened my #1 Matzuo sickle hook. I typically use Gami's, but thought I'd try these out this season....Not a good first impression. I can't say whether it was a King or a Coho, but it was a hefty fish. And that concluded any action we saw this morning. Beautiful morning despite the lack of fish.
