Headed to the little pullout on the Lowell Snohomish river road about a mile from town at around 7:30 AM to try my luck after seeing fish rolling the previous day. Got to the shore to see a couple anglers with a 4ish pound silver. They caught another about the same size as the first about an hour later.
Around 11 I managed to hook up with a beautiful 8 pound buck who put up a spectacular fight. A fellow angler netted him for me, and after another half hour of fruitless fishing I decided to call it. I consider it a great day for being early in the season, and saw about 5-6 fish caught between the bank anglers and a couple boats trolling plugs. We were all twitching jigs, an often underlooked technique on the Snohomish.
Start off the season well, put a couple of hours in on the river and try your luck, because there is a good chance of getting a fish or two in the right spot. Get out there and get em!
