We got a late start on the day, didn't get to the Skate park in Orting until around 2:30 and started walking. Everyone we asked said there were quite a few fish in there. We get down there and this guy fowl hooked one in the belly and popped off. I get my first cast in and pulled in a 5lb Silver, no more than 15 minutes later I landed a 17 lb King. Nothing for me the rest of the day but about 3 hours later my buddy hooks into and lands a 13lb King. (Digital scale weighed) Made the long walk back and started smoking the kings the following morning. Smoked for 12 hours and I still had to put them in the oven to firm the meat up but still tastes pretty damn good.

4 1/2 leader, black corky with orange cheater and red yarn.
My buddy had about a 5 foot leader and blue corkys I believe.

Good day! Will probably be back next weekend, and on a side note.... If you happen to find a wallet in the river can you comment below? I think it's a lighter brown wallet with ID by the name of Jonathon. Would be tremendously appreciated. Good luck all!

Nice fish,,,at least they are biting at the creek....hooksetjou,,,river runs near Orting...not to be a sarcastic person, but its easier to google map it than to get you lost....FYI, you need a parking pass to park near the river, and you can get one at Big Js...10 bucks a season for the pass.

Thanks gunnybyrd! I google it but not sure which street in Orting will lead to a place to park. Two potential spots I saw were River Ave NE and Bridge St SE. Am I on the right track? By the way, I was given a pass when I bought my fishing license. Is that the pass you are referring to?

If your a member of this site you can look at the hot spot I put on there, if not go to highway 410 and go east, get off of the second exit I believe which is highway 162, follow that past the safeway and when the road bends to the right, go straight and park at the skate park and walk down that path that's behind it and you'll run into the river. Be prepared for the walk!

No, that is not the pass i was referring to...there are three parking spots for people who do not live in Orting to park at, the pass is purchased at Big Js sporting goods ($10)...one is at the water treatment plant, the second at the end of Calistoga street east, and the third is at a bike park on south washington avenue (i think)(djp refers to this area above)...Big Js has the parking permits...if you park at the bike park, it is a 20 minute, at least, walk toward the voight creek area down a asphault walking/biking path to fish.

What was your main line and leader line? Is 12lb test enough for main line or should I use something stronger?
