Right around 4lbs would be my guess. Had a big belly before I gutted it.

Chums come in laden with eggs. The bulging bellies should be a dead giveaway. They are already in the river, just got to wait until it opens up for them. They had totes full of chrome chums, and were selling the eggs for $10/lb.

That's cool that they are selling the fish locally, at least. I like wierd grocery stores so I'll definitely have to check them out. As long as we're chatting, where do you like to fish for chums? In Seattle you can find chrome ones under the 1st street bridge (have to deal with the snaggers), and I'd assume they hold in the same spots on the green/duwi that the silvers do.

I know they stack in the Metzler Park area. Last year I found a HUGE chum buck downstream from Metzler at ***** creek in november. Only issue with that area though its such a drive and long walk, I'd frankly rather go to the skok where you can park 5 minutes from where you fish. And its an easy drive, you can go up to hoodsport or stop at the casino to freshen up. Don't everybody listen to me though! :)

Chum eggs are what the Japanese mainly use to make Ikura, which is salmon caviar. The eggs are bigger, and fattier I guess.

Is there anywhere local to get egg skeins until I land a hen or two?
