I got a low census day at work today. Normally I'm not thrilled about that, but in this case I got my river boat organized and hit the Snohomish.
I launched out of the Cady launch and spent the first couple hours working my way up river toward the rock cliff. Water was pretty low (HT at around 11am) so that made for some fun weaving around stumps and gunning over 8" deep water. Makes me appreciate my jet boat all the more.
I didn't see much of any action until I got up the Cliffs, the fish were rolling and jumping and generally teasing like crazy today. I threw everything I had at them - eggs, plugs, spinners, spoons... short of knocking them on the head, no takers.
I saw one caught by a guy anchored up and running plugs. The river was pretty sparse with anglers today, I was surprised. I even got prime water at the Rock Cliff, which is rare, even on a weekday. Won't be like that in a couple weeks, which will be my next chance.
On the way back my big motor died, perhaps bad gas? Into the shop it went, due for a tune up anyway.

we had the same experience on Sunday. Started in the Snohomish then ran up the Skykomish. Never saw a fish caught. I dont think this run will be what everyone was hoping for.

I think next week will give a better idea, things should be in full swing by then.

where do the bad (i.e. shallow) spots start when heading upstream? i havent had a boat in there before and i know mine can only handle certain conditions since it isnt a sled or jet. thanks for the post and update.
