After some success yesterday and some lost tackle to recover, I headed back to the Lowell-River Road bank around 6:30 AM.
Sometimes luck just happens. I was in the water at about 6:45 and began searching for jigs and a vibrax I lost the previous day. I found three of my jigs in short order and suddenly saw a rise about 40 feet from me.
A quick toss of the jig, three twitches, and wham, fish on. Landed a bright 4lb hen, first cast of the day. As I was dispatching the fish, several more rolled through the same spot. Another school, like last night.
After they rumbled through the action ceased and the water became still again.
I found my vibrax spinner, as well as 3 other vibrax spinners in various sizes and colors. Also found 4 dick nites, a humpy special spoon, several jigs and a spin n glo with seemingly a million pounds of lead attatched.
Later I caught a bright 16inch coho jack. I released it and it swam away as if nothing happened.
I also saw some weird 4 inch eel-like thing swimming along the surface of the water. I grabbed it but I didn't know what it was so it kinda freaked me out.
All in all, great day, a good fish, and tons of free gear.
Tight lines
