First time poster here. I have been following this site for about a year now as I am an avid outdoorsman and am very impressed with everything about this site so decided to finally join in. Better late then never. Well done Mr. Carey and to everyone else who is involved. To give a little back ground, I live and breath hunting and fishing and have been doing both since I could walk. Growing up in the Seattle area I have spent countless hours on the river and in the woods throughout the state learning and trying to become the best angler, hunter, and overall outdoorsman.

On to the report. I have been hitting the Snohomish and most recently sky quite often the last few weeks and have done very well. Went to the Sky and fished between lewis st bridge and tualco access and was fishing by 7:15am. Twitching a 1/4 oz black/purple jig with a little bit of flash was the ticket today. Twitching on the bottom is deadly with fast and very subtle twitching action. Drives silvers nuts. Will be back Monday morning. If you see someone wading across the middle of the Sky or Snohomish up to there waist to get to the other side of the river that's me. If you see me introduce yourself if you get a chance. I would love to meet some of the members on here to tell fish lies. You can't miss me I'm 6'6 in my mid 20s crossing where I probably shouldn't be.

Thanks for the brief shot of advice on twitching! River fishing for Silvers is one of the few types of fishing that for whatever reason has still really been holding out on me in the success area. I decided to add twitching to my arsenal of techniques for the year. I've heard similar info to what you said, small hops on the bottom are key, but still have yet to make it work in the rivers. Definitely different from the salt, where I'm typically moving my rod through 75 to 90 degrees before dropping again....which does work out there...Gotta keep trying!

Thanks for the tip! Been going at it hard, but no luck. Tried twitching some, but no luck at all. I will try your method of twitching. What size jig hook? I've been using 2/0 with either 3/8 or half ounce heads, but do have some 1/4s (1/0 and 2/0) I can tie up. I usually get my coho with size one dicknites or size 4 mepps aglia or vibrax spinners.

Ok, this is too funny

On Friday, I took the day off from work and went to go fish the Skykomish. Decided to hit the Tualco section of the river and hiked upstream a ways opposite side of the Prison Hole. While fishing I happened to see another fisherman, who was upstream of me, cross the entire width of the river just below the big stump in the middle, and get to the other side. Have to admit that was pretty impressive, don't try that at higher water! So was that you? Nice catch! Wish, I could say the same for my efforts on Friday.

haha yeah that was me crossing. If the weather is to hot for waders sometimes ill swim across to get to the other side. Paid off in the end crossing but realized as I came back down the river I didn't need to even cross. Just hugged the rock pile bank and it was easier coming back.
