First stop was the Wallace Hatchery to see if anything was happening there... roughly 30 fish up above the weir but nothing in the river below... so I decided to head downstream to the bump out just past the Chevron Station and round about on hwy 2. I walked into the hole where I noticed a lot more trees and structure than last year...and decided to twitch a ping twitching jig from bradsjigs.com. First cast and I had a boot 20+ lb King on the line. I pulled him in quickly and released...then decided to head up river to some other new structure that I've seen from HWY 2 over the past 2 months. First cast with a home made spinner resulted in a nice little 16" cutt that I quickly released. Giving this a 2 because I did catch fish...just the wrong species...need some rain to move more fish into the system.
