Fished long lake memorial weekend, lots of jet boats, and hot... Fished the evenings of the weekend and slammed the smallmouth bass on the south shore across from the DNR campground, two of us caught and released well over a hundred bass a day, mostly of the 6-10 inch variety, with a few big fish in the 4-5 1/2 pound range, focused on the rock outcroppings and any structure along the bank, the fish would not touch spinnerbaits or even nightcrawlers flylined, jerkbaits were the key, small jerkbaits (2.3-3 inch) produced the numbers but no quality, the 4.5 inch megabait jerkbaits produced small numbers of bass, but all big, when I figure out how to send a picture, I'll attach them, we got lots of pictures, the fishing was great despite the floatilla of nitros boats, also got a big crappie on the jerkbaits, and blisters on my hands from working the plugs.
