So we arrived at first light, I had the kid started first. After about 15 minutes I started casting also, right away I saw a coho hit my jig right at the bank, I set the hook and the line breaks. I watched the fish go flip flopping back out. About 15 minutes later, I got another bite, but landed that one. It was a buck about 5 pounds or so. As I was punching my fish and bleeding it, the kid hooked a chum, it was his first chum, but it was on the light pole with 8 pound test. He fought it for about for about ten minutes, then it came unbuttoned. It was too dark to keep anyway, but he was still excited. Then, I had him cast out a jig with a bobber and a chunk of shrimp and first cast another coho hit. Luckily he landed that one, which was his first coho landed. His was about 5 pounds also We fished a little while longer then took off.
I hooked both of my fish on the usual white/pink/blue jig. The chum hit green and purple. The jig the kid was using for his coho was purple and pink. I have been fishing a bunch the last week, there are a bunch of fish in the river, but it is still about 8 inches high or so. It should be pretty good all next week.
We went down again today at first light with the son and his friend, but we couldn't by a strike. It was ice fog until we left. Only saw one other guy and he only saw one fish roll.
