So after my instructional session with Ryan Hung of Reel Priorities I was feeling PUMPED to try and get on my first local steelhead. So I gave Ryan a call and he scheduled me in with very short notice which was fantastic. We arrived at our location and started working water. My first float down and I give it the ol' bass hook set and completely botched it. Reeled in everything but the fish and my jig. Whoops! Ok, calm down I told myself. Worked a little more water and it wasn't long before I had another float down. Gave my rod a quick pop hook set and I was hooked into my first local steelhead of the season! After a fantastic fight of 3-4 jumps and a few runs she was on the bank. I was jumping for joy! A beautiful hen. I had one more really quick float down but it was just a nipper. All in all a fantastic day on the water. Ryan is truly the best fisherman I have ever seen. If your having any troubles or need that confidence boost you gotta call Ryan for an instruction session!
