I went to Blue Creek yesterday afternoon to fish with my son while he is here for Spring Break. I left work early thinking I was going to be able to cruise down to the Cowlitz. Nope. As soon as I got on I-5 heading South, it was stop and go. Anyways, I got there an hour later than when I wanted to. I got to the parking lot, and it was already full. I headed down the trail. At this point, I'm not sure where he's at. He had to be between the flats to the point. I decided to go to the mouth of the creek, and found him. I talked to him about how fishing was going, and he told me that he only fished two places, the slot and the where his standing. While I was talking to him a guy below him was on a fish but it broke off. I walked back up river just about 100 yards from him, and I started fishing. As I looked down river, a few guys were on the fish, and one of them was my son, but he didn't land his. The others did. So at that time, I started thinking about fishing with them after half an hour of nothing. I made my last cast, at the drift where I was fishing, and then a fish jumped at the end of my drift. My line went slack, so I started reeling and set the hook. Fish on! I landed that oone. I marked it on the punch card and went back to fishing. After that one, I lost a few. I landed my second fish a few hours later. After I landed my second fish, my son came up to where I was fishing, only to see him with one on the stringer. I told him to take my spot, but he couldn't dial the drift in, so we packed up and left. On the walk back to the truck, he told me that he hooked at least eight fish. He was using a bead and peach yarn. I was using two beads and a black yarn.
