since i had to work on the opener i couldn't wet a line until today. fished about a half mile above and below my place on the east fork. used my ultra light gear with 4lb test and a 3wt fly rod. 9 cutthroat released between 10 and 16 inches. 2 steelhead released in the 4 to 5lb range. no whitefish. my dad released a few cutts and hooked into a 13 to 14lb steelhead, not landed. copper blade size zero mepps aglia and muddler minnow fly were the hot setup for me on this slow day. my dad used some homemade copper spoons he copied from some my grandpa made in the 50's. found a few double hook corkie rigs and a cell phone from somebody fishing in the closed season, the phone spent to much time in the water to work. somebody tore up my road on atv's too, neighbors grandkids probably. saw around 20 deer and 2 grouse plus the eagles nesting across the river and a turkey vulture at the green diamond gate.
