I arrived at the lake on Friday and fished off the dock and caught 3 small fish. 1 of the fish was a largemouth, it measured no more than 5 inches but it was my first largemouth of this year. I used a small rapala original floater that day.
On Saturday I got my boat out and caught 2 small trout at the log jam and off the dock caught 3 more small trout.
Sunday was my best day. I caught 2 more small trout off the dock. a 13" trout at the log jam. Behind the islands there’s a lily pad patch and I caught 2 12" inch trout later that night we moved to a spot I'm not going to say where but I caught a HUGE largemouth bass. The biggest I caught on that lake. It weighed about 4 pounds and it was 20" long. I took it from the spot and released it next to my cabin. Later that night I went back to the spot and caught a 10" bass which is the average size for there.
Monday I fished around the docks and got 2 13" trout and 3 more small ones. The lure that I used on Sunday and Monday was a blue fox that’s like a year old and I’ve caught hundreds of fish off of it. The trout population on Cavanaugh has never been better there everywhere. People are catching them out in the middle but lots are being caught inshore. Great weekend of fishing!
