At it again for the old humpy run fun. This time I decided to get out there at first light so I left the family at home still snoozin.
Got out to the sand bar in MV around 5:30am, walked well away from the early morning plunkers so I had plenty of room for drifting. With no action for a while I switched to a pink n white dick nite and 3rd cast got nailed by a spunky little buck who put on quite the aerial display before attempting to beach himself. Unfortunately for me I had to hook that fish right as a group of 3 plunkers were scouring the beach looking for the "hot spot". As soon as I hooked him they started to booking it right next to me. I've seen it before and I'll see it again but these guys literally setup camp within 3 arms lengths from me and tossed out their gear right in front of me, closing off my now slim casting zone. I really tried to keep my cool, I took one cast after carding that buck, hooked up on two of their gear... oh man, I gave them the death stare from all hell, waited for an apology which never came and packed my gear up and walked further down the beach to an appropriately open spot and continued my morning.
Sorry for the rant, we've all been there... Best of all was again shrimp gear was doing no good up and down the beach but My buddy and I were having decent action most of the morning on the dick nites. We beached n carded 3 bucks and lost about 5 more just fooling around with our ultralight humpy gear.
Keep it friendly out there and respect each other!!!! Until next time,
-Casey
