With power now restored (thank goodness), I wanted to share a Snohomish river report from Thursday afternoon. I got a great chance to take a friend for his first time salmon fishing and what a better opportunity than pinks. I set him up with a 1/4oz hoochie jig and showed him the slow twitch jigging motion. No sooner did we anchor up a few schools started pushing in. He had a few brief hook ups but wasn't getting a solid hookset on the bites. But soon after he finally got a nice buck pinned. High fives and big smiles were shared with his first salmon, a moment I wont forget as I am sure he wont either. He ended up catching his first 4 pink salmon to limit and I got mine as well. Twitching jigs and dick nite spoons were the ticket. This was also the first day I noticed the fish really showing up in good numbers. I can only imagine this rain is going to draw the rest in the rivers. Fishing will only improve as we roll into September. Perfect time to take others out and catch some of these great sporting fish on light gear. Fish on!
