Got a text from my buddy as I was waiting for the bus to go to work. "Going fishing, we have 90 min before the tide is too high". Ok, So run back inside, change into the smelly clothes I've been fishing with all week, grab the cooler and go.
Get there, people leaving, saying how bad it is. Etc. etc. etc. Well, yeah, it is bad there. That is until the tide changes. Sure enough, once the tide changed and the flow reversed, the rookie caught one fish after another. He limited in about 20 min, could have doubled that if he wasn't punching and cleaning fish. All very bright chrome fish, lots of lice, really pretty fish just out of the salt.
Me on the other hand, hooked 4, lost 3 at the beach and landed 1. Also had about 4+ bites that I didn't set fast enough. Oh well. One punch is better than none and that punch filled up my first card of the season. The buck I landed was very silver, no sign of a hump, and in really good shape.
Happy fishing out there, tight lines!
