i arrived at the snagpile hole around 9am twitched until dusk, 15+ pinks caught 2 bright ones retained, went 1/3 on coho, the one i landed gave an epic battle though. there i was in knee deep water, no net, amongst tons of snags, and i still managed to land this pig coho. mr. fishdude and my friend fernando showed up later in the evening. the action was kind of slow by that point though. had a blast salmon fishing today. the coho are in, go get em guys. black/purple out fished all colors i tried today, 2nd best was chartreuse/purple bugger jig, 3rd best was white. 1 of the coho i lost wrapped up on the snags in the snagpile and broke me off the other just spit the hook.

Dang. I need to become your friend. I had a terrible time today. I dont even think I had a bite. New to Salmon fishing and still trying to learn. Tried jigs, wiggle warts, hoochies, and dick nites today. I'm sure my lack of tight lines has a lot to do with technique. So much to learn. Fished about 200 yards south of the Lawson Water Access site. Pinks rolling and a few big jumps ending with a fish smacking back into the water. An old timer told me those type of jumps were the Silvers. Don't know if it was me or that spot. Didn't see anyone pull one in the whole time I was there, which was about 11 to 3. Glad you're doing so well.

Micman78, I know your frustration as I've learned and learned the hard way for 6 years now. Silvers are especially hard in the Snoho. They seem to use the Snoho like a freeway to the Sky hatchery or just the Sky. I'm not even sure that's what they do, but that is what I'm told.

Read Jonb a little closer and you'll see your "tip" on catching silvers- they like cover in the logs and limbs if they stop going upriver for awhile. Then add that together with our leader's comment on silvers and the Snoho, "eggs under a bobber". You'll loose less money fishing eggs and a bobber in the logs than tossing jigs or worse yet, wiggle warts.

Good luck.

i wouldnt recomend a begginer to try floating roe, i could see that becoming expensive, but goldrigger is spot on, on everything else. id suggest picking 1 spot and 1 technique and dialing that in until you know it like the back of your hand. for me its twitching jigs, ive also seen guys do well with dick nights.. wiggle warts trolled usually produce well for the boaters. if i had a boat id probably go with the wiggle wart or brads plugs for silvers.. stick to your technique and learn it well and eventually a silver will impose it self upon your presentation. the snohomish coho are stubborn, you need to be more stubborn.

ill ad this too, if the fish are rolling within casting distance of you, you are in the right spot. they wont bite until your presentation is perfect. location is a minor detail, your presentation is most of the issue if your not catching fish.

Jonb sounds like a guide who used to share bits of wisdom with us newbies- Nate Treat. I remember Nate saying to stick with one system which works. Eventually you become an expert at it.
I really like jigs and wiggle warts. Jigs are harder and I must be very focused to do well. But it allows me to fish areas I want to hit and couldn't with a plug. I've found the weight of the jig opens up far more options than I thought at first. For instance, in the logs I can go real light (1/8 or 1/16 oz) in order to fish good looking water at a slower speed than heavier jigs and not get hung up much. I've even tried long maribou flies with a little scent and maybe a small split shot. My guess is the smaller presentation and moving a little slower lets me tempt fish I would never have reached.

There is my newbie 2 cents. Great thing about this site is learning new stuff.

Hey John, how are you? Did you not move to Canada? I'd be interested in fishing with you again, if you are ok with it. Vladimir
