Hi everyone,

This report is for Sunday morning of Oct 4, 2015.

I had the chance to fish the Snohomish for my first time this ever with @FishingArtisan targeting coho. I'm not familiar with the area at all, but we pulled off where you can drive your car and park right on the riverbed.

We arrived a little late, just before 7, lines in the water by 7:15am. Water was low and starting to rise. I started off floating eggs and my friend was on his trusted spinner. @FishingArtisan hit pretty much right away on the Mepps, but it popped off right near shore.

About an hour in I wasn't getting any takes so I switched over to a purple size 3 Blue Fox (in pic) and was working an area behind this big fallen tree. You could see lots of fish jumping right behind the tree so I kept tossing my spinner in there as close as I could.

Then came that fateful cast about 8:30 or so - right behind the tree and maybe a half second after I flip my bail and before I could start dealing I get SLAMMED! And it's fish on! Hooked into a solid 25" buck. Bright as can be. He swam quickly straight into me and changed directions a few times and i was able to back him up on shore. My first Snoho Coho and it was awesome. Amazing how a few minutes can really change your whole weekend.

I ended up going 1/1, my only hit of the day but well worth the drive from Tacoma. I'm not sure how far along into the Snoho season we are about now , but will try again one of these weekends.

The rest of the day we both switched from floating eggs, drifting eggs/shrimp, to spinners and I even drifted some dick nights with no luck. Moved upriver a bit but the sun was out by then and we decided to call it a day (11:30).

There were plenty of fish rolling and some jumping. Some other guys around us were fishin for pinks right next to us. Many many boats out there anchored up- the only silvers I saw caught were on spinners/spoons (not many hits on eggs). Most of the plunkers didn't have much action, but I did hear a few cow bells ring. The fog was pretty thick in the morning and couldn't tell if they were doing good or not.

On a side note. Be carried where you park your car and make sure you stay on the rocks. My little Toyota Tacoma got stuck in the loose and it took some logs/wood stuffed under my tires and my friend's pushing skills to get us out as the tide was rising.

All in all a great day fishing. Nice to go somewhere new and have success. I'll definitely be back one of these weekends. Anyone know when the the Snoho peaks? Or starts to get pretty good? Thanks for the advice.

Thanks for reading. tight lines y'all.
Linh

Sounds like a good pay to play spot I know. I believe the access cost $80/year. We are starting to approach peak season. 3rd week of october is the peak, so ive been told. I wouldnt wait for that though.

Thanks guys!. I'm thinking of staying local and hitting the green this weekend.

@NE 1 fission - stay with it man. It will be so worth it when you finally break through - where do you usually fish?

@faasusu I'm not too familiar with the area but I remember it's off of "Short School Road" You have to drive through a backroad and enter a closed fence area (although it is unlocked, just remember to close it since there are cows all around). PM me and I can explain a little more.

@machewbacca - oh man, the look on Sark's face the entire 4th quarter was priceless haha

@johnB - thanks for the info. Debating going back this week or staying local. But your message is tempting me haha

@bobber down chromer - yeah I remember you bro! How have you been. Hitting the green lately? Where you going to be fishing this weekend?

Thanks @bentRod!

If it rains stay local. Every river will get a nice push of fresh fish when it rains
