Decided to take the morning off and drive up to brave the crowds at Bob Heirman. Got there at 6:30 and the parking lot was already filling up. Met hooksetjou and fished from 7a to 11a. Lots of fish jumping and lots of dead or dying Pinks. Alternated jigs, floating eggs, and casting Dick Nites. Witnessed a beautiful sunrise. Hooked my first coho an hour in on a 50/50 Dick Nite. Slipped on a moldy Pink while walking it back to the bank and sat down in waist deep water. Fortunately the water didn't quite make it over the top of my waders, so only my vest got a soaking! C&R'ed a bright 4lb hen. Looked over and saw hooksetjou fighting a fish too. What are the odds we'd hook up at the same time?! Hooked a couple of Pinks on black jigs. One of the Pinks was a monster buck that fought like a Coho. Probably the best fight of the day. About 10a I was floating some eggs about 8' below the float. The float just did a little barely noticeable bobble. I set the hook and brought in a healthy 5lb buck Coho. A very subtle take. After a fun fight I managed to get it released and on its way too.
Tried for another hour without any more action so called it a morning. Really didn't see that many coho caught. Maybe eight for the 16 guys I saw fishing over 4 hours.
Had a visit from the game warden checking licenses. Nice to see one out and about.
.....sorry, no fish pics since I C&R'd, but did attempt to capture the sunrise.
Nice fishing with you hooksetjou!
