drove up to the creek this morning hoping to get a chum for some smoked salmon dishes on turkey day (it's a tradition to use chum, not sure how it started lol). saw tons of fish milling around today, plenty of people too. I caught and released around 10 fish or so and had a fair amount of quick releases. my 21month old daughter reeled in her first chum today. after finally hooking up with a fish that was determined wear me out, I figured it was a smaller fish. so I got situated so I could handle the rod and she could crank away. well after a couple cranks it turned out to be a pretty good sized fish. it was tough getting it to the net but she was having a blast cranking on the reel. it was a decent looking fish so I bonked and bled it. took me awhile to get another good fish and called it day.

It was a treat seeing your daughter fight that fish today. I'd love to see this become a more family-friendly fishery. Tons of fish around for sure, I just hope people can keep their cool for the remainder of the season. The fly-fishers seem to make this fishery into something it isn't, and were getting a bit grumpy about sharing the water with other anglers. This is urban fishing - expect it to be crowded and learn to share the run with everyone. BTW - if anyone is wanting to know if these fish actually bite, I had tons of fun fishing jigs under a bobber in the tailout today, and finished the day with a chrome doe that hammered my jig.

Thanks Jakefish. I agree that it would be nice to see it a bit more family friendly there. That was my first time fishing the wall, and I was only there because it was safer for the kid with the rail. I had planned on fishing spinners when I got (those fish do bite and bite pretty good) there but there were too many people and not a lot "understanding". I had a few people get upset early in the day because I was fishing a light action rod with 8lb leaders and then when I switched to a heavier rod I heard the same people complain because my drag wasn't locked down. I tried to get the kid onto a few other fish but kept getting run over by impatient people. If everything wasn't shut down I'd have been elsewhere for sure.

A new friend keeps telling me to make it down here, not too sure if im willing to combat fish.... Although the photos ya'll keep posting make me want to go asap... Congrats on the fish, I guess its time I bring my 6 yr old son to have some fun as well.... any specific yarn colors or corky being used?
